Scottish travellers 2007

2007 got off to great start when 8 mad keen 300's arrived at Tummel for a
Training and Racing session. Saturday's training was run by Ex National
Champ Ian Baillie and he certainly blew the cobwebs away with a variety of
training excercises that challenged everybody's skills and fitness.
Excellent feed back from the coach, and between the team, made this a great
way to start the season.

After the traditional beers from Ross, Sunday saw event 1 of the 2007 RS 300
Scottish Travellers when Tummel Race Officer Colin Scott and his team ran 5
super-efficient back to back races. All the races had one thing in common -
very, very close racing. In the fleet of 8 almost everybody got their bows
in front at some stage, and several finishes could only be described as
blanket.

When the scores were counted Ian Baillie triumphed with 3 firsts, Neil
Beveridge was second and Ben Yeats third. Local boy, Ross Watson had scored
a first in the first race but had to pull out with gear failure. New guys to
the tour Alan Ramsay and John Stamp showed good speed, particularly up wind,
where they gave everbody a run for their money. Dave Redpath and Emlyn
Davies, who had travelled all the way from Tewkesbury, were also in at all
the finishes and the close results showed how little there was between all
the boats. A great start to the year.

Mr Bevs.
