Results / RS Fat Face Racing Circuit Bartley Green Sailing Club - 07/06/2003
The RS 300 Fat Face circuit event at Bartley began in sunshine and a
force 3.
Andy Beston, Gavin Young, and Barry Steel were the early leaders
getting clear of the pack but as the wind increased Richard Peacock and
Steve Cook hustled down the reaches to catch the front runners.
Andy Beston held on to win, sailing a well measured race with Gavin Young
2nd and speedy Richard Peacock 3rd.
The wind shifted and increased for Race 2, gusting 5/6.
The gybe marks became testy but Richard Peacocks agility and
smart sailing secured a convincing win, with Steve Cook 2nd and Mark
Davies 3rd.
(The Bartley boys did well).
Race 3 saw most of the fleet swimming at some point, with 5 of the 10
boats
retiring. The remainder battled it out in extreme conditions.
Steve Cook, despite capsizing on the start line, chased to finish a
worthy 2nd
and a 2nd overall. Richard Peacock held his lead from the start, sailing a
stunning race to win the day. Gavin Young, with a 2nd and 4th under his
belt
clinched 3rd deserving his 3rd overall for a tenacious performance.
