Results / RS300 Fat Face Racing Circuit Burghfield SC - 17/04/2004

An excellent fleet of 12 RS 300s turned out for the Burghfield meeting, comprising a healthy mix of old friends, and new faces, and including 3 A rigs. Three races took place over the day, in a gradually increasing wind, which had enough gusts, lulls, and shifts, to make for an interesting and challenging days sailing. The backing wind meant that we sailed a different course for each race, and in the final race, the PRO gave us a slalom downwind leg, with enough gybes, carefully positioned to coincide with the strongest wind, to challenge the skills of many! Steve Cook carried on where he left off last year to win the event, but was hard pushed by Joel Burchett in second, whose combination of youth, sailing experience and physique suggest he will be one to watch in the future. Paul Barker was third, and his good showing both here, and at the winters, bode well for the rest of the season for him. The merit award went to Peter Curtis who sailed his A rig into 4th place, at his first open meeting in the 300. All in all, a great event, well organised by a very nice club; we look forward to returning!
