Results / RS Fat Face Racing Stokes Bay SC - 15/05/2004
This two-day event provided the last chance for RS300 sailors to brush up
their skills and assess the opposition before the Championships, and
those who attended were rewarded with some close racing in demanding
conditions - light winds and Solent tides, which caused the abandonment
of the last race on Saturday, and a late start on Sunday.
Circuit leader and local sailor Steve Cook started well, with 3 wins and
two seconds, enough to take the event, but was pushed hard by newcomer
Paul Barker, who started slowly, but finished with a third, a second and
two wins, proving he is rapidly coming to terms with the boat and could
be a force to be reckoned with at the forthcoming championships. Also
showing well is James Winfield, one of our younger competitors, 3rd
overall, who is steadily improving as he gains experience. With a host
of established names, and a pack of fast improving new boys snapping at
their heels, the champs and the remainder of the circuit will continue to
be hard fought affairs, with little room for errors!
