The Bartley Sailing Club round of the RS300 Fat Face Circuit
was held on June 20th. The forecast North westerly had not
materialized by the first start and the fleet set off into
a shifty Westerly.
Mark Davies made the best of the first beat to lead at the
windward mark, and then lead for the whole race never to
be headed, whilst there was a battle going on for 3rd and
4th between Andrew Cross and Philip Edwards.
Conditions for the second race were not much different and
Mark Davies once again coped better than the rest to win
again followed by Mark Reddington with battle resumed for
3rd between Cross and Edwards.
The 3rd race however didn't initially follow the same
pattern with Reddington leading at the first mark. Some
dodgy boat handling after the first lap allowed Davies
through and he went on to score another bullet, whilst
the roles were reversed for 3rd with Cross beating Edwards.
Despite the conditions the racing was good and enjoyed
by all, helped by the great job done by the race management
team.
