There were 5 300s at the Dalgety Bay Fat Face event over weekend of the 12th and 13th of May, which was down on what was expected, due to call offs and a fairly dreadful weather forecast but in the end the wind was great, 12 to 15 knots on Saturday and about 10 knots on Sunday, all from the East. There was plenty of cold wet drizzle too but this didn't spoil the enjoyment and sailing in the Scottish Singlehanded Championship added plenty of other boats to the start line, making for an interesting and challenging event.

Sailing on his home waters obviously suited Ian Baillie, who reveled in the difficult chop and tricky tide to post a clean sheet of first places, despite being a bit short of practice. Tim Kean took most of the first race to get to grip with the waves but soon started to show some impressive downwind speed. The closest race was the first one on Sunday where in the flat water before the tide turned, Tim matched Ian most of the way round, only losing out due to Ian's better local tidal knowledge.

Mark Henman was third overall with his A-rig after having a good battle with Alan Ramsay and Gavin Marshall and finished second in the final race after Tim decided to take a prolonged swim at the final mark.

Despite the rain we had some great sailing down the waves and some challenging handicap competition in the Singlehanded Championship.

Many thanks to Dalgety Bay for the excellent welcome and race management and to Fat Face for their continuing support.
